“I’d like to be under the sea…” The undersea hotel model from the 1964 World’s Fair. With some 70% of the Earth’s surface covered by sea, underwater habitats seem inevitable.
This is an incredibly rare 1932 program from “America’s First All Women’s Air Exhibition” featuring cover art of a fresh-faced aviatrix looking skyward by noted pin-up illustrator Earl Christy. The event was hosted by the Chicago Girls’ Flying Club and was a huge hit. During the Golden Age of Aviation, the era between world wars, the public was fascinated with flight, making air shows huge draws. From barnstorming to wing walking, aerobatics and dangerous stunts, the country was just plane crazy and couldn’t get enough of these spectacles.
